While Operation B 093 was still underway, the units from Winnweiler, Imsbach, and Falkenstein were dispatched to a fire at a structure that was initially unidentified. Upon arrival at the scene, it turned out to be an agricultural shed with a floor area of approximately 300 m², in which about 150 hay bales were stored. The storage facility was already fully engulfed in flames when the first responders arrived, which is why the incident classification was changed from “outbuilding fire” to “large wildfire.” The primary goal of this was to alert as many water-carrying vehicles as possible to ensure a sufficient water supply, since the incident site was located outside the built-up area.

On site, firefighters deployed several C-hoses to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent vegetation. This was followed by a controlled burn of the shed. In addition, the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) was called in with an excavator. The excavator was used to demolish the agricultural building in the morning and pull apart the burned debris so that all embers could be extinguished. To ensure the water supply, a shuttle service with water-carrying vehicles was set up during the first hours of the operation. This was scaled back with the deployment of the water supply roll-off container (AB-WV).

Approximately 65 personnel from the units in Winnweiler, Wartenberg-Rohrbach, Lohnsfeld, Münchweiler, Steinbach, Falkenstein, and Imsbach were on the scene. The regular emergency medical service, which was on site at the start of the operation to ensure its own safety, was able to be relieved by the on-call ambulance (B-RTW). The Enkenbach-Alsenborn Fire Department was also on site to provide support.

The mop-up operations continued into the morning. In the early evening, the Imsbach Fire Department also returned to the scene for a post-fire inspection (B 095). The remains of the burned materials were checked using a thermal imaging camera, and no elevated temperatures were detected.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the police and, subsequently, by the criminal investigation department. An investigation into the cause of the previous car fire at a wooden shed in Börrstadt (B 093) is also underway.
