Alarm and Incident Planning
Alarm and Response Planning (AEP) involves the development of an Alarm and Deployment Procedure (AAO) as well as facility- and incident-specific response plans.
The State Law on Fire Protection, General Assistance, and Disaster Management (LBKG) requires local authorities to draw up these alarm and response plans (Section 11, Paragraph 2).
The AAO assigns the responding vehicles based on the incident code and area. This information is stored in the control center’s system so that, when an emergency call is received, the designated units are automatically alerted; these units then transport the necessary equipment and personnel to the scene to carry out firefighting or provide technical assistance.
An object-specific AEP contains detailed information about a specific facility, such as a school. In addition to predefined staging areas and access routes, the plan also provides the incident commander with tactical guidance that can save a tremendous amount of time in an emergency.
An event-specific AEP outlines procedures for a specific event, such as a severe weather event or a wildfire. It defines the various alert levels for the event and lists the respective measures to be taken. Consequently, the AEP can be consulted by command support during relevant emergency situations and used as a kind of guide or checklist for managing the response.
