First Responder

First responders are alerted in the event of a medical emergency to provide qualified care until emergency medical services arrive.

In Rhineland-Palatinate, the legally permitted maximum response time for emergency medical services is currently 15 minutes. At present, the emergency medical station closest to Sippersfeld is located in Winnweiler. A single ambulance is stationed there. What happens if that ambulance is already on a call and another emergency arises? In that case, an ambulance from Kirchheimbolanden would respond, but it would take approximately 19 minutes to reach Sippersfeld. The trip from Winnweiler takes about 12 minutes.

In collaboration with the local German Red Cross (DRK) chapters, the Winnweiler Municipal Fire Department has built up a network of first responders over the past few years. Since these first responders typically come from their own town or a neighboring town, medical assistance can begin well before the emergency medical services arrive. If necessary, the first responders assist the emergency medical services until the patient is transported.

The Sippersfeld First Responders are called to emergencies in Sippersfeld, Pfrimmerhof, Börrstadt, and Breunigweiler.

In Sippersfeld, the first responders are organizationally affiliated with the volunteer fire department and also perform this volunteer work on a voluntary basis and without pay. Like the other firefighters, the first responders are called into action in an emergency on weekdays as well as on Sundays and holidays, both during the day and at night.

Since volunteer work is done in addition to our daily responsibilities, we unfortunately cannot guarantee 100% availability. Nevertheless, we hope to be able to help as often as possible in case of an emergency.

The Sippersfeld First Responder Unit has been in existence since December 6, 2021.

To serve as a first responder, training as a paramedic is required. Of course, individuals with additional qualifications—such as emergency medical technicians or paramedics—can also serve as first responders.
