Command Vehicle (ELW 1)

The ELW 1 is an important fire department emergency vehicle, particularly during large-scale operations, as it enables seamless communication between the incident commander and the fire department operations center (FEZ).
On the way to the scene, the ELW is often used as a reconnaissance vehicle, thereby transporting the incident commander/unit leader directly to the scene.
During an operation, the command vehicle plays a key role in organizing radio communications, as information and feedback are collected at the command vehicle and then relayed in a consolidated form to the operations center or other agencies. The command vehicle is also used to communicate with other organizations (police, German Red Cross, etc.).
In addition, the folding pavilion stored in the rear allows leaders to discuss further operational tactics in a central location.
