Friends of the School?

Many citizens have probably already asked themselves the following questions:

Why is there a support association for the fire department?

Aren't the municipalities responsible for the fire department?

But I do pay the fire protection tax!

These statements are correct. The legislature has required municipalities, as the entities responsible for funding fire departments, to cover the costs of equipment and training. The scope of this obligation depends on the population, the size of the municipality or city, and the level of industrial and commercial development. The funding authority, the Winnweiler Association of Municipalities, fully meets its obligations in the area of fire protection. When comparing the equipment of other fire departments, the Association of Municipalities’ administration’s fulfillment of its obligations can certainly be considered exemplary.

Now, here are some more questions:

If all of this is already in place, why have a support association?

Should I become a member now?

The answer is a resounding YES!

The idea is to equip the volunteer fire department beyond the requirements of DIN standards, thereby increasing its effectiveness in firefighting and technical rescue operations. For example, the support association purchases protective jackets for the active department and the youth fire brigade that are suitable even for winter temperatures. Furthermore, it purchases equipment, gear, and training materials that are not required by law. This significantly improves the fire department’s operational capabilities, which in turn enhances the safety of the citizens of Münchweiler.

All of the association's financial resources are used to support the fire department and the youth fire department, thereby directly benefiting the citizens.
