Winnweiler Youth Fire Department
The Winnweiler Youth Fire Department (JF) was founded in 1992 and currently has 14 members between the ages of 10 and 15. The goal of the Winnweiler Youth Fire Department is to inspire children and teenagers to join the fire department and, at the same time, teach them about technology and the department’s mission. A large part of our youth work also involves topics unrelated to firefighting. For example, the Youth Fire Department regularly participates in camping trips and organizes excursions, environmental initiatives, and fundraisers.

Firefighting training covers the basic tasks involved in fire suppression. Thanks to the extensive equipment available at our fire station, we are also able to include larger-scale drills and additional topics in our training schedule. At age 15, young people can earn the Youth Fire Department Achievement Badge. In addition to basic firefighting skills, this test assesses general knowledge and athletic performance. The test is conducted in a group of nine members who support one another. Teamwork generally plays a major role in the youth fire department, as many tasks can only be accomplished through joint effort.
Membership is free. Anyone between the ages of 10 and 15 can join.
