Report
The emergency medical services requested assistance from the fire department, specifically an aerial rescue vehicle (HRF), for an incident in Höringen. The Winnweiler Fire Department then responded to the scene with the HLF 1, the turntable ladder, and the command vehicle. The Höringen and Gehrweiler fire departments were also on the scene.
Emergency medical services had requested assistance from the fire department because space inside the building was very limited, and rescuing the patient via the narrow, winding stairwell was not advisable given the patient’s condition. After a thorough assessment of the scene, it became clear that rescuing the patient via the turntable ladder was impossible due to the insufficient size of the attic windows. However, during the assessment, it became apparent that there was a second staircase leading from the attic down to the outside; although it was also narrow, it was not winding. Consequently, in consultation with the emergency physician on site, the rescue was carried out using a stretcher sling via this route.
Firefighters placed the patient in the ambulance, after which the patient was transported to an appropriate hospital for further treatment.
