Report
The drone unit was called in to provide support for an operation in Imsweiler in the Nordpfälzer Land municipal association. On the railroad line between Hochspeyer and Bad Münster, a train had struck something near Imsweiler that the train operator could not clearly identify, which is why it was initially assumed that a person was involved.
Once it had been confirmed that the rail line had been closed, emergency responders began inspecting the track bed. Shortly thereafter, members of the Imsweiler Fire Department found the carcass of a wild boar on the tracks. To completely rule out the possibility that other animals or a person had been struck by the train, the crews inspected the entire section of track. The drone unit supported the operation by providing aerial surveillance with a thermal imaging camera. The search yielded no further findings, confirming that only the wild boar had been struck by the train and that no person had been harmed.
