The Winnweiler Fire Department responded with one vehicle after a child got his hand stuck in the front chainring of a bicycle. The parents’ attempts to free him on their own had failed, so they called 911. An ambulance also responded to the scene along with the fire department.
Rescuers first used a cordless angle grinder to cut through the bicycle chain, then removed the sprocket to gently free the child's hand. The young patient was then handed over to the emergency medical services.
