A fallen tree was reported on the B 48 between Hochstein and Schweisweiler. The Schweisweiler unit then dispatched a vehicle to assess the situation.
Upon arrival, the emergency responders found a small tree near the stream that had fallen over and was now protruding slightly onto the roadway. They secured the scene against oncoming traffic and began cutting the tree into smaller pieces with a chainsaw and removing it from the roadway. As the work progressed, it became apparent that other trees in the affected area were in danger of falling, so the road authority (LBM) and the police were called in for assistance.
An LBM employee arrived at the scene shortly thereafter and, after assessing the situation on site, decided that the section of the road would be closed until an expert could evaluate it. The fire department personnel then handed the scene over to the LBM and concluded their operation.
