The Münchweiler and Winnweiler units were called to respond to an animal in distress at a temporary parking lot near the Neumühle. An open house was taking place there that Sunday. Passersby had spotted a dog inside a car in the parking lot that had been locked inside for at least 15 minutes in warm temperatures.
The emergency responders first contacted the event organizer and made an announcement to locate the vehicle's owner. The driver was found through the announcement made at the event site and subsequently freed the dog from the car. The police were also at the scene and took a report on the incident.
The firefighters were able to return to the station without taking any further action.
