On the B 48, near the Winnweiler train station, a single-vehicle accident occurred involving a passenger car that was traveling toward Hochstein and collided with the guardrail on the opposite side of the road. Initially, only an ambulance had been dispatched to the scene of the accident. Shortly thereafter, the ambulance requested assistance from the fire department to secure the area.
A vehicle from the Winnweiler Fire Department was dispatched to the scene and initially secured the area against oncoming traffic. The patient was already in the ambulance and was being treated. Firefighters also ensured fire safety and checked the vehicle for leaking fluids, though none were found. The police arrived shortly thereafter and began investigating the accident.
The fire department secured the scene until the ambulance left. The ambulance transported the patient to an appropriate hospital for evaluation. The scene was then turned over to the police.
