The Börrstadt and Winnweiler units were dispatched to respond to a fuel leak from a passenger car on the K 43 between Börrstadt and Theresienhof. The first responders from the Börrstadt unit reported an oil spill approximately 50 meters long. Consequently, the affected area was secured against oncoming traffic, and the oil was absorbed using absorbent material. A vehicle from the Winnweiler Fire Department was also dispatched to deliver additional absorbent material to the scene.
At the same time as these measures were being taken, the public works department was notified; its crew drove to the scene and set up appropriate warning signs for road users. Firefighters cleared the road by sweeping up the contaminated binding agent and then concluded their operation.
