The Winnweiler Fire Department was alerted to a fallen tree, whereupon the HLF 1 responded to the scene. Upon arrival, the firefighters found a tree approximately 15 meters long and 0.4 meters in diameter that had fallen from a property onto the roadway. The tree’s crown completely blocked the road, so the scene was first secured against oncoming traffic.
To remove the tree, a turntable ladder was called in, as some of the branches were three to five meters above the ground. Using a chainsaw, the tree’s crown was cut down to the property line, and the branches were removed from the roadway, allowing it to be reopened to traffic.
