A caller informed the fire department by phone that oil from a damaged tank on a property in Wartenberg-Rohrbach was threatening to leak into a body of water. In response, a vehicle from the Winnweiler Fire Department was initially dispatched to assess the situation and confirmed the caller’s report. The tank in question had a cut in it, from which a significant amount of oil was threatening to leak, posing a considerable environmental hazard.
Consequently, another vehicle was called in to deliver oil absorbent to the scene. The responders filled the container with it to soak up the oil and then dispose of it properly. The Public Order Office was also at the scene.
