The Winnweiler Fire Department was called to an emergency door-opening situation because the tenant of an apartment had not responded to repeated attempts to make contact, and it had been noticed that water was leaking from the apartment. After consulting with the police, the firefighters forced their way into the apartment, as the door was locked and there was no other way to gain access. Inside the apartment, they found the person conscious and handed him over to the emergency medical services. Firefighters assisted in transporting the patient to the ambulance so that he could subsequently be taken to an appropriate hospital. The scene was then handed over to the apartment’s owner.
