The county’s drone unit was dispatched to a gas leak in Obermoschel. Upon arrival, personnel from the Nordpfälzer Land municipal association determined that a faint hissing sound could be heard coming from a gas tank, leading them to conclude that a gas leak was occurring. The incident site was cordoned off over a wide area, and all persons within the cordoned-off radius were evacuated. The responders also prepared to extinguish the fire and, wearing breathing apparatus, approached the gas tank with a measuring device. The gas utility was also notified.
The drone unit drove to the staging area, but it was not needed and was able to begin the return trip shortly thereafter. The North Palatinate Regional Association’s emergency response teams subsequently sealed the gas tank so that no further leakage could be detected and then waited for the gas technician to arrive.
