A traffic accident occurred on the A 63 in the direction of Kaiserslautern between the Winnweiler and Sembach interchanges; according to initial reports, two trucks and one passenger car were involved. It was also reported that no one was injured in the accident, but that large quantities of fuel had leaked. In addition to the Winnweiler Fire Department, units from Göllheim and Enkenbach were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival at the scene, it became clear that there were indeed no injuries, but that the roadway was contaminated with fuel and debris. The incident involved a damaged truck, which was already in the shoulder when emergency responders arrived. After consulting with each other, the Göllheim and Enkenbach units were able to stand down, while the Winnweiler Fire Department secured the accident scene and absorbed the leaking fluids with absorbent material. The highway patrol was also at the scene and called in a specialized company to clean the roadway, as well as the highway maintenance department to provide further security. After the highway maintenance department arrived, the scene was handed over to them, and the fire department personnel concluded their operation.
