Report

A traffic accident involving a truck was reported on the A 63 between the Winnweiler and Göllheim interchanges. The Münchweiler and Winnweiler fire departments were dispatched to the scene. The Enkenbach and Göllheim fire departments were also alerted.

The first responders from the Münchweiler branch of the German Red Cross (DRK) who arrived on the scene found a small van lying on its side with one occupant inside. The occupant had already been freed and appeared to be uninjured, but was nevertheless attended to by medically trained personnel. The vehicle involved in the accident was blocking both the left and right lanes, which is why the highway was initially closed entirely. The Enkenbach Fire Department set up a detour at the Winnweiler exit using one of its vehicles. The Göllheim Fire Department was able to stand down because the opposite lane was not affected. After the ambulance arrived, the patient was handed over to its crew.

At the police’s request, firefighters used a winch to right the vehicle and move it to the shoulder. The roadway was then cleared of debris so that it could be reopened to traffic. The police secured the shoulder until the tow truck arrived.
