The Münchweiler and Winnweiler units were dispatched to an urgent door-opening call in the Alsenbrück-Langmeil neighborhood of Winnweiler, as a social services worker was on site for a routine visit and the patient did not open the door even after several attempts to make contact. The police and an ambulance were also at the scene.

In consultation with the police, the front door was opened by removing the lock cylinder, allowing emergency medical personnel to enter the building. The patient was found on the floor of her bedroom and was suffering from severe hypothermia. The emergency medical services team treated the patient and, given her condition, subsequently called for an emergency physician, who was flown to the scene by helicopter. Firefighters installed a new lock cylinder so that the door could be properly locked again. In addition, medically trained personnel assisted the emergency medical services with patient care and with the subsequent transport of the patient to the ambulance. She was then transported to an appropriate hospital for further treatment.
