The fire departments in Sippersfeld, Breunigweiler, Steinbach, and Winnweiler were alerted to smoke developing outdoors on the K 39 between Alsenbrück-Langmeil and Sippersfeld. A faint smell of smoke was also detectable in the reported area, but no open flames were sighted.
The emergency responders then conducted a wide-area search of the vicinity. In addition, a drone was deployed to conduct an aerial reconnaissance. During the search, barbecue fires were discovered in both Gonbach and Sippersfeld, which were believed to be the source of the smell of smoke. Due to the prevailing dry conditions and the resulting danger, the fires were extinguished. The police were also on the scene. No wildfire was detected. Consequently, the emergency responders were able to conclude the operation.
