The Sippersfeld and Winnweiler fire departments were dispatched to a follow-up call near a forest rescue station in the woods near Sippersfeld. The report included additional information indicating that the fire was likely smoldering firewood.
The situation reported was confirmed by the crews on the scene. The wood was then cut up using a chainsaw and extinguished with a C-hose. In addition, the immediate vicinity was checked using a thermal imaging camera to ensure that there were no hot spots remaining. During the operation, the drone unit was also called in to scan the forest area from the air using thermal imaging to check for any additional fire sites. After no such sites were detected, the crews concluded the operation.
The local forest ranger and the police were also on the scene.
