Alarm time:04:34
End of operation:05:14
Incident keyword:Home smoke detectors

Report

A smoke alarm had gone off at the kindergarten in Lohnsfeld. The report was initially received by the on-call staff at the public works yard, whereupon the employee notified the Integrated Control Center (ILS) and then drove to the scene himself. In accordance with the Alarm and Dispatch Procedures (AAO), the ILS alerted the units in Lohnsfeld, Wartenberg-Rohrbach, and Winnweiler.

The first responders from the Lohnsfeld unit reported that the smoke detector in the kitchen had gone off, but that neither smoke nor the smell of fire was detectable from outside. Shortly thereafter, an employee from the public works department arrived at the scene with the key to the property and granted the responders access to the building. All rooms were then inspected, confirming that it was a false alarm triggered by the smoke detector. The public works employee removed the affected detector so it could be replaced.

Firefighters were able to conclude the operation without taking any further action.
