The Steinbach, Börrstadt, and Winnweiler fire departments were dispatched to a report of smoke outdoors on the L 394 near Steinbach, in the direction of the Wildenstein Inn. Upon arrival, vegetation was burning along the shoulder of the road.
The first responders from the Steinbach Fire Department fought the fire with two D-nozzles, thereby immediately preventing it from spreading further. The TLF 4000 from the Winnweiler unit subsequently assisted with mop-up operations by thoroughly dousing the affected area of approximately 100 m² with a water cannon. While the firefighting operations were underway, the Börrstadt Fire Department secured the scene against passing traffic and set up a water supply point so that the vehicles’ water tanks could be refilled immediately.
The police were also at the scene.
