The Münchweiler, Imsbach, and Winnweiler fire departments were dispatched to a car fire on the B 48 at the turnoff to Alsenbrück-Langmeil. Upon arrival, it became apparent that the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames in the area of the engine block. The driver had managed to escape from the vehicle in time.
The arriving emergency crews quickly began fighting the fire using rapid-response equipment and a foam nozzle, and were thus able to bring the fire under control promptly. At the same time, the scene was secured against oncoming traffic. The car’s engine compartment and trunk were then opened using a battery-powered multi-tool to disconnect the battery and cool the engine block down to the point where it no longer posed a hazard. The scene was subsequently handed over to the police.
