The fire departments from Winnweiler, Münchweiler, Gonbach, Imsbach, Lohnsfeld, Steinbach, and the Falkenstein TLF were initially dispatched to a “large wildfire” on the K 10 between Münchweiler and Alsenbrück-Langmeil. In addition, the TLF from the Enkennbach Fire Department was also dispatched to provide support. The crews immediately responded to the scene, but no fire could be located in the reported area.

However, the Winnweiler Fire Department’s TLF 4000 was able to proceed by sight, as heavy smoke was already clearly visible. It turned out that a hedge covering an area of about 30 m² was on fire near the Winnweiler cemetery. Both of the Winnweiler Fire Department’s tanker trucks quickly began fighting the fire using a rapid-response strategy and were thus able to bring the fire under control promptly.

At the same time, the command vehicle was notified by the Fire Department Operations Center (FEZ) that there might be a second incident site in the direction of Münchweiler an der Alsenz. The Lohnsfeld Fire Department was dispatched there to assess the situation, and the drone was launched at the same time. No findings could be made, either on the ground or from the air.

The hedge fire was quickly extinguished, so no additional personnel were needed aside from the units from Winnweiler and Steinbach. During the mop-up operations, the fire site was thoroughly doused with water on both sides to prevent the fire from reigniting. The operation was then concluded. A police vehicle was briefly on the scene during the operation.
