The fire departments in Lohnsfeld, Wartenberg-Rohrbach, Imsbach, and Winnweiler were called to a wildfire on the L 390 between Winnweiler and Leithöfen. Upon arrival, they found that approximately 1,000 m² of harvested grain fields were on fire.
The two tanker trucks from the Winnweiler Fire Department were deployed in "pump and roll" mode, allowing the fire to be brought under control quickly. Afterward, a farmer tilled the area with a cultivator, and the fire trucks thoroughly doused the surrounding area with water to prevent the fire from reigniting.
The drone unit was also on the scene and provided the responders with an aerial view of the situation. In addition, the mop-up operations were supported by a thermal imaging camera. The burned area was estimated at 4,000 m² based on aerial measurements.
