Report

On Friday at noon, the fire departments from Imsbach, Falkenstein, Börrstadt, Steinbach, Münchweiler, Lohnsfeld, and Winnweiler, as well as the tanker truck from the Göllheim Fire Department, were dispatched to a wildfire between Imsbach and the Röderhof. Upon arrival, it became clear that a grain field that had been harvested shortly before was burning over an area of approximately two hectares. Wind conditions posed a particular challenge, as the wind direction changed frequently, causing the fire to spread in various directions.

The fire was quickly contained and brought under control by the tanker trucks from the Imsbach, Steinbach, Winnweiler, and Göllheim fire departments using the “pump and roll” method. In addition, several crews on foot provided support using C-hoses. As the operation continued, a farmer arrived on the scene and began tilling the stubble field with a cultivator. Afterward, the edges of the burned area were doused with water once more.

The Lohnsfeld Fire Department managed the staging area, the Börrstadt Fire Department set up a water intake point to refuel the tanker trucks, and the MZF 1 from the Münchweiler Fire Department collected the used hose lines after the firefighting operations were completed and transported them to the Winnweiler station. The standby ambulance from the Münchweiler branch of the German Red Cross (DRK) was on site to ensure the safety of the emergency personnel and was able to return to base without taking any action. A total of 12 vehicles and approximately 50 firefighters from the fire department were at the scene.
