The fire departments in Sippersfeld, Breunigweiler, Steinbach, and Winnweiler were called to a tree fire at the Retzbergweiher in Sippersfeld. On the scene, a broken-off, rotten tree stump was burning.
By the time emergency responders arrived, the operator of the Retzberghütte had already made initial attempts to extinguish the fire using powder extinguishers, but these were unable to fully put out the blaze. The open flames were extinguished through a rapid response by the Sippersfeld MLF, and the stump was then cooled. Subsequently, the areas affected by the fire were cut out using a chainsaw so that they could be cooled down separately to a safe temperature. The forestry department was notified of the incident.
The ELW and the MLF were at the scene; the TLF 4000 remained in the staging area for the time being but was not needed. All other personnel were able to stand down.
