The Winnweiler and Imsbach units were alerted to smoke developing outdoors in Winnweiler and subsequently responded to the reported scene. The firefighters detected a faint smell of smoke, but the cause could not be immediately identified. While conducting a ground-based reconnaissance, a drone was also launched to assess the situation from the air. Shortly thereafter, it became clear that the smoke was merely coming from a small barbecue fire in a properly constructed fire pit, which posed no danger. No action by the fire department was therefore necessary.
