Report
On the A 63 heading toward Kaiserslautern, smoke was reported near the guardrail shortly before the Sembach interchange. The Winnweiler unit was subsequently dispatched to the scene. Since the Winnweiler interchange in the direction of Kaiserslautern is currently closed due to roadwork, the emergency responders accessed the highway via the temporary ramp near Wartenberg-Rohrbach.
Upon arrival, the firefighters found burning vegetation near the median barrier, which was quickly extinguished by a rapid response from the tank fire engine (TLF 4000). The fire affected an area of about half a square meter. In addition to the TLF 4000, the command vehicle (ELW) was also at the scene. The TLF-W and the swap body truck with the water supply roll-off container initially remained on standby at the temporary access road but were then able to stand down shortly thereafter.
After conducting a final inspection of the vegetation using a thermal imaging camera, the teams returned to base.
