A car fire was reported on the B 48 between the Winnweiler train station and the turnoff to the L 401, prompting the Winnweiler, Münchweiler, and Imsbach fire departments to respond. Upon arrival, it turned out that the engine had blown up and the vehicle was not on fire. The three occupants, including two children, had already exited the vehicle by the time the firefighters arrived and had moved to safety at the side of the road. Firefighters secured the scene against oncoming traffic and ensured the vehicle was protected from fire. After the police arrived, they took over traffic control, as one side of the road had to remain closed for the duration of the operation.
Due to the intense heat and the resulting circulatory problems among the car’s occupants, an ambulance was called to the scene. The crew treated the three patients. Transport to a hospital was not necessary. The firefighters handed the scene over to the police and returned to the station.
