Incident Number:B 103

Alarm time:09:31
End of operation:11:23
Incident keyword:Smoke coming from a building in Winnweiler

Report

The Winnweiler Fire Department was alerted to smoke coming from a carpentry shop, whereupon the fire crew responded to the scene. Since the turntable ladder is temporarily out of service due to an inspection, the Enkenbach-Alsenborn Fire Department’s turntable ladder was also initially called to the scene.

Upon arrival, it became clear that a fire had broken out in the exhaust system of a saw. Employees had already extinguished the fire, but smoke and the smell of burning were still detectable in the roof area. Consequently, a team wearing self-contained breathing apparatus entered the building and inspected the affected area with a thermal imaging camera. The turntable ladder from the Enkenbach-Alsenborn municipal association, which arrived shortly thereafter, took over inspection of the roof area from the outside. After no critical temperatures were detected, ventilation was initiated. Furthermore, the extraction system was completely emptied, and an inspection was conducted using a camera from the sewer plant, which had been called in for support during the operation.

Three employees of the facility were examined by emergency medical personnel but did not need to be taken to a hospital. Once the measures were completed, the ventilation system was restarted and its operation was checked to ensure it was functioning properly. The emergency responders were then able to conclude their operation.
