Report

In Sippersfeld, smoke was reported coming from the basement of an apartment building, prompting the Sippersfeld, Breunigweiler, and Winnweiler fire departments to be alerted. The first responders from the Sippersfeld Fire Department confirmed the report and assessed the situation.

Shortly thereafter, a team wearing breathing apparatus gained access to the room where the fire was burning and began firefighting operations. It turned out that a plastic container with contents had caught fire there; the fire was quickly extinguished and the container was removed to the outside. At the same time, an exhaust vent was created and a fan was set up to clear the basement of smoke. Subsequently, the ground floor and the first floor were also checked for smoke and ventilated. Since the residents of the ground floor were not at home at the time of the operation, the fire department opened the door in consultation with the police.

At the time of the fire, there were occupants in both the basement and the attic apartment; however, they had already evacuated the building before the fire department arrived. They were examined by emergency medical personnel but did not need to be taken to a hospital. Once the response operations were completed, the building was handed over to the homeowners, who had arrived in the meantime.
