The Winnweiler Fire Department was alerted to a car fire in a residential area, whereupon the HLF 1, the TLF 4000, and the ELW were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, the firefighters found a small car on the street with a fire in the engine compartment. Consequently, a crew wearing self-contained breathing apparatus approached the vehicle, opened the hood, and began extinguishing the fire. The fire was quickly extinguished, followed by a final inspection using a thermal imaging camera.
Due to the fire, operating fluids had leaked from the vehicle and were absorbed using absorbent material. In addition, the Lower Water Authority was notified because the water used to extinguish the fire had flowed into the sewer system. The scene was handed over to the police shortly thereafter.
