Report
The Falkenstein, Imsbach, and Winnweiler fire departments were dispatched to a water main break in Falkenstein. The first responders initially noticed light smoke coming from the roof area and subsequently requested the aerial ladder from the Winnweiler Fire Department.
It later turned out that there was a malfunction in the heating system, which is why the owners had pressed the emergency shut-off button. A supply hose on the heating system had melted, causing steam to form, which was initially mistaken for smoke. Due to the malfunction, water leaked from the heating system and seeped into the electrical system, among other places. The emergency responders inspected the area to ensure that the heating system was completely de-energized and informed the owners that repairs and restoration to service could only be performed by a specialized company.
