A water main had burst in Winnweiler, prompting neighbors of an unoccupied house to hear the sound of rushing water and call the fire department. Upon arrival, firefighters determined that several pipes had burst and that water was standing about 3 cm deep on the ground floor of the unoccupied building.
The emergency responders first gained access to the basement to shut off the main valve, but found that it was not working. Consequently, they shut off the line to stop the water from leaking. The building’s owner was notified of the damage.
