Report
At the same time as the emergency medical services, the Winnweiler Fire Department was alerted to a home emergency call. Upon arrival, the responders first tried to get the resident’s attention by ringing the doorbell, knocking, and calling out, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
After a thorough search of the building, the responders determined that a window on the first floor was open, through which they were able to gain access without causing any damage. To do so, a two-section extension ladder was set up, and a firefighter and the paramedic from the ambulance entered the building while continuing to call out. The resident still did not respond, but she was found safe and sound inside the building. It turned out that she had accidentally pressed the building’s emergency call button and, because she was not wearing her hearing aids, had not noticed the repeated attempts to contact her. The emergency responders were thus able to conclude their operation promptly.
