An employee at a supermarket in Winnweiler notified the fire department after finding a spider in a banana crate and being unable to rule out the possibility that it posed a danger. By the time the firefighters arrived, the crate had been resealed and taped shut. It was opened at a different location by a firefighter wearing appropriate protective gear. It turned out that the insect found was a triangular fat spider, which poses no danger to humans. The spider was therefore released back into the wild.
