On the A 63, in the direction of Mainz between the Göllheim and Kirchheimbolanden interchanges, a traffic accident involving several vehicles occurred; it was reported via an e-call from one of the vehicles involved. Based on the alarm code, the fire departments in Göllheim, Kirchheimbolanden, and Winnweiler, as well as the units in Dreisen and Weitersweiler, were initially alerted.
The first responders from the Göllheim Fire Department initially reported that four vehicles were involved. The HLF 1 from the Winnweiler Fire Department was to proceed directly to the scene, while the remaining vehicles were to set up a full closure of the A 63 near the Göllheim interchange and direct traffic away from the highway. It turned out that a total of five injured people had to be transported by emergency medical services, but none of them were trapped inside the vehicles. Since there were sufficient personnel at the scene, the HLF 1 was able to withdraw after the rescue helicopter had left the scene. The remaining members of the Winnweiler Fire Department remained on site until they were relieved by the LBM, as the highway had to remain fully closed until an expert had completed the final accident investigation.
