Report
The Winnweiler Fire Department was alerted to a person in distress in Hochstein who, according to the dispatch report, was believed to be trapped under a car that had run over them. The report was confirmed upon the arrival of the rescue helicopter, which was the first to reach the scene. A person was trapped under the rear axle of a compact car, which was located on private property. The ambulance arrived shortly thereafter.
The crew of the HLF, which arrived at the scene shortly thereafter, immediately began rescuing the person and was able to free them in a very short time using a battery-powered spreader and shoring materials. However, the helicopter’s emergency physician could only confirm the person’s death. The emergency medical services provided care to the family members present until the arrival of the PSNV (Psychosocial Emergency Care) unit, which had been called in as a backup. During a debriefing, the fire department personnel discussed the course of the operation and were given the opportunity to seek support in processing the incident scenario.
The police and an expert were at the scene to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
