Report
The fire departments of Winnweiler, Göllheim, and Enkenbach were dispatched to a traffic accident on the A 63 in the direction of Mainz, which was reported to have occurred between the Winnweiler and Göllheim interchanges. The first responders from the Göllheim Fire Department promptly reported that the accident site was located near the Göllheim highway entrance. It was a single-vehicle accident involving a Sprinter van carrying three occupants. The van had skidded off the wet roadway and, after rolling over, came to rest on its side. Two people were trapped inside the vehicle, while the third person was able to free themselves.
While the Göllheim Fire Department quickly began rescuing the individuals using hydraulic rescue equipment, the Winnweiler Fire Department set up a full closure of the highway and diverted traffic at the Göllheim exit. The crew of the HLF assisted with the response at the scene, as their team included a paramedic. The emergency medical services deployed three ambulances, an emergency physician response vehicle, and a rescue helicopter to the scene. The accident victims were quickly freed from their predicament and subsequently transported to appropriate hospitals.
Later on, the Winnweiler Fire Department was relieved by the LBM, which took over traffic control.
