The Winnweiler Fire Department was alerted to a fuel leak from a vehicle on the A63 heading toward Mainz. Upon arrival, it was determined that a Sprinter had collided with a wheelbarrow in the single-lane construction zone, causing coolant to leak. As a result, traffic behind the vehicle had come to a standstill. The Göllheim and Enkenbach fire departments were also dispatched due to the construction zone conditions.
A vehicle from the Winnweiler Fire Department drove to the scene through the closed section of the roadway, while the Göllheim Fire Department reached the accident site from the opposite direction. The police vehicle, which was attempting to approach from the direction of Kaiserslautern, was stuck in traffic in the construction zone and was therefore unable to reach the scene. Consequently, another patrol car was requested from the opposite direction. The vehicle involved in the accident was no longer roadworthy and had to remain at the scene until the police completed their accident report. The Winnweiler Fire Department provided lighting for the scene for the duration of the response.
After the police finished documenting the accident, the vehicle was removed from the roadway and traffic was allowed to resume.
