A traffic accident occurred on K 1 between Lohnsfeld and Potzbach, involving a passenger car that had landed on its roof. The fire departments from Lohnsfeld, Wartenberg, and Winnweiler responded to the scene.
The first responders from the Lohnsfeld Fire Department determined that the driver of the crashed car was still inside the vehicle. She was immediately attended to by a crew; there were no other people involved in the accident. After the HLF 1 from the Winnweiler Fire Department arrived, the patient was quickly rescued from the vehicle and given initial medical care. Shortly thereafter, the ambulance (RTW) from Kaiserslautern arrived and took over her care. An emergency physician response vehicle (NEF) was also requested.
While rescue operations were underway, firefighters secured the scene against oncoming traffic. In addition, the vehicle involved in the accident was checked for leaking fluids. The police were also at the scene and took charge of documenting the accident and calling a tow truck. After the ambulance left the scene, the fire department was able to conclude its operation and hand the scene over to the police.
