Report

A traffic accident involving two motorcycles occurred on K 37 between Imsbach and Falkenstein, prompting the Imsbach, Falkenstein, and Winnweiler units to respond.

Firefighters provided initial care to the two people involved in the accident and then assisted the emergency medical services, which arrived shortly thereafter, in providing further care to the patients. At the same time, the road was secured against oncoming traffic and completely closed for the duration of the operation. In addition, fluids were leaking from a vehicle; these were absorbed using absorbent material and subsequently removed.

The patients included one person with minor injuries (green category) and one with serious injuries (yellow category). The emergency medical services deployed a rescue helicopter (RTH), an emergency physician response vehicle (NEF), and two ambulances (RTW) to the scene. The person with minor injuries was transported by ground ambulance to a suitable hospital, while the person with serious injuries was flown by helicopter to a hospital farther away. Fire department personnel assisted in transferring the patient to the helicopter.

The police were also at the scene to investigate the accident and arranged for a towing company to be called. After the evidence had been secured, the motorcycles were moved to the side of the road. Since a guardrail post was damaged in the accident and fluids had leaked, the road authority was notified of the incident. Once the work was completed, the full road closure was lifted, after which the fire department personnel concluded their operation.
