The police had called the fire department after a concerned landlord reported that he hadn't seen his tenant for several days and had been unable to reach him. The Münchweiler Fire Department then responded to the scene; the police were already there when they arrived.
Firefighters initially tried to get the resident’s attention by ringing the doorbell, knocking, and shouting loudly, but this was unsuccessful. They then searched the house from all sides to see if they could find a window that had been left ajar, but this effort was also unsuccessful. The firefighters then forced open the apartment door, granting the police access.
Afterward, the responders ensured that the door could be locked again to secure the property and handed the scene back over to the police.
