The Winnweiler Fire Department was called to investigate a fire after a flush-mounted electrical box had caused a small amount of smoke and flying sparks. Upon arrival, the firefighters determined that a connection terminal had burned and that a crackling sound was still audible. The affected junction box was then inspected with a thermal imaging camera, but no elevated temperatures were detected. Consequently, the fuse in the junction box was removed, de-energizing it and eliminating any further danger.
The tenants of the apartment were informed that the outlet is unusable until further notice and that the landlord must be notified so that the damage can be repaired.
