On Monday morning, a loud bang was heard at the emergency medical services station in Kirchheimbolanden, right next to the hospital. Shortly afterward, dark plumes of smoke and flames rose from the vehicle garage and threatened to spread to other parts of the building and the roof. To fight the fire quickly and effectively, the drone unit of the Winnweiler Fire Department was dispatched to assist the fire departments of the Kirchheimbolanden municipal association.
The drone was deployed to assess the situation from the air and provide valuable information for firefighting efforts. Using a thermal imaging camera, particularly hot spots on the fire station’s facade and roof were identified. These hot spots were then targeted for extinguishing, which allowed the fire to be brought under control quickly.
Thanks to the cooperation of the fire departments and the innovative support provided by drone technology, the operation was carried out successfully without causing any major damage.
