The Steinbach, Börrstadt, and Winnweiler fire departments were alerted to smoke developing outdoors in Steinbach. The crews responded but, even after a thorough search, were unable to locate any smoke or fire. It was raining at the time of the alarm and during the search, so it is likely that the caller mistook rising water vapor for smoke.
