The fire departments of Münchweiler, Gonbach, Imsbach, and Winnweiler were alerted to smoke developing outdoors in Münchweiler. The alert already indicated that the incident was occurring behind a residential building, but that the residents were not at home. A short time later, a member of the Münchweiler Fire Department reported that it was a fire pit that had already been extinguished but had begun to smolder slightly again.
The Gonbach and Münchweiler fire departments nevertheless responded to the scene and carried out the necessary mop-up operations using small firefighting equipment. All other units were able to stand down.
